Seamless integration
While a managed service solution can work with any email infrastructure, ISPs require more than simple compatibility – true ease of deployment and management comes only with seamless integration of the ISP’s existing systems for user management, user authentication, web-based portal, and other core applications.
In addition to Katharion’s web-based interface – which allows ISPs to delegate responsibility for domain management to customers as appropriate – Katharion is designed to facilitate simple integration via LDAP/LDAPS or other protocols with an ISP’s email user database – whether those users and associated email addresses and aliases are stored in configuration files, within an email application, or within RADIUS servers.
This integration assures that email accounts at the ISP are automatically kept in sync with accounts within Katharion, with no intervention by the ISP.
Highly flexible solutions
Katharion also allows Internet Service Providers to manage users and domains via a web services API. Using standard protocols including SOAP over HTTPS, this API provides larger ISPs with the ability to manage their email security programmatically from virtually any application.
Katharion provides similar flexibility for user authentication, with a range of integration options such that end customers using Katharion can login to manage their preferences without having to keep track of separate usernames or passwords – and thus saving significant support time for system administrators.
Last but not least, Katharion is designed to integrate with an ISP’s existing web-based portal, whether that portal is a simple webmail interface or a more comprehensive site encompassing webmail, billing, support, or various other functions. Katharion’s interface allows for single sign-on via one of several methods, and is both customizable and fully brandable for the ISP.
